Check Interior Windows and Doors
Caulk around window and doors and all exterior trim.
Install or replace weather stripping on all doors and windows.
Insulation
Insulation: Make sure your attic is well insulated. R-30 is considered the minimum.
Check Alarms & Extinguishers
Check dates on fire extinguishers and replace if needed.
Check batteries in smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.
If your fire extinguishers are older than 10 years you should replace them.
Air Conditioner Inspection
Have your air conditioner checked by a licensed heating/air conditioner professional.
Make sure nothing is stored near or on air conditioner unit that will prohibit easy air flow.
Extra Energy Saving Tips
Replace standard incandescent light bulbs with with compact florescent light bulbs and save energy .
Unplug electronics, battery chargers and other equipment when not in use.These small items use more energy then you think.
Reduce air conditioning costs by using fans, keeping windows and doors shut and closing shades during the day.Most ceiling fans use less energy than a light bulb.
Take It Outside
